Some facts: Mr. Utterson is the main character.
Mr. Enfield is his best friend.
Mr. E. is the one who gets Utterson interested in this Mr. Hyde.
Mr. E's story is about Hyde trampling a girl on the corner and leaving her there to scream.
Hyde's name is ironic because he hides from everyone.
Stevenson the author decides in the first chapter to describe Hyde a Juggernaut, which means any destructive force, which i thought was ironic because Hyde is this destructive man. Also after he trampled the girl and runs and then comes back as Dr. Jekyll and he is described or called a sawbone. This also puts a nasty, scary picture into my head and makes me think of a psycho. To tie this in with my essential question, after Hyde tramples the girl he pays off all who witnessed the incident, which goes to show how people really do care about how they are perceived and Mr. Hyde didn't want anyone to think of him as a bad person or better yet go to the police. Also in chapter two Mr. Utterson encounters him late at night and when Mr. Utterson wants to see his face he shows him and then quickly runs into his house. Hyde does not want people to judge him or remember his appearance, which shows how much he care about how people see him and also keeps his secret hidden.

Essential Question
During the next 3 weeks or so I will be reading "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde." The question that I am going to try to keep in my mind while reading is:What in the human mind makes people so obsessed with how someone perceives their physical traits, personalities and actions?
As I read I will be talking a lot in my blog about how I can see the characters personalities, actions and traits that would contribute to evidence for this essential question.
Any and all comments would be great whether you are agreeing with me or completely contradicting me.
