So life goes on and he continues working and the Tyler's monkeys are burning their fingerprints away with the lye they use to make the soap. And they are all shaving their heads for some reason. The narrator is kind of lost because of his insomnia and he travels while he is at work for his company to find a fight club or Tyler in the cities he travels to. Everyone calls him sir, when he goes into bars and pubs and he doesn't realize why. His insomnia enables him to sleep while he really is not sleeping or so he thinks. A strange bartender knows him in Seattle and he does not know how until the guy tells him that his name is Tyler Durden. DUM DUM DUM! (evil laugh). Everything that Tyler has does the lye kiss that burned his hand Project Mayhem and Fight Club all the illegal things it was all the narrator who did it. Tyler is his other personality. This is all psychological and really pertains to may essential question because my question has to do with what in the human psyche or brain triggers peoples perception of themselves or others? He creates this other personality to get away from the pain of his terrible job or his fatherless life and get away from the insomnia and the girlfriend -less life that he lives. I feel terrible for him, this definitely hits my pathos. :} Now Tyler finds out/ aka he realizes that he has talked about Tyler behind Tyler's back and now Tyler has to disappear because he was not supposed to do this. The reason for the insomnia problem is they when he thinks that he falls asleep, he does, but his other personality Tyler wakes up and he does his jobs and runs around and this is why he is alway tired. He was disassociative personality disorder. I learned about this in psychology last semester with Mrs. Mastromauro. People create them to deal with pain that they suffer from inside and outside. It is like the movive Sybil. If you have never seen it you should deff. rent it. When he tells Marla about this problem she thinks it is cool and she has no real responsiveness to it because she does not believe him. Finally he tries as himself to stop the fight club: the original one that he started and the men look at him and kick him out even though he tries to tell them that he is Tyler Durden.

Chapters 17-20; Project Mayhem and Fight Club Post Consumer waste generation
There are only certain types and amounts of people who are able to join Project Mayhem. It becomes bigger as more and more men become restless with Fight Club. Tyler gets the men to start making tons and tons and tons of the soap for him and they have no idea what they are doing. What they are doing is making Tyler money because he sells the soap for 20$ a bar. I think he is a scum bag having all these men do his dirty work for him. I feel happy for the narrator because he begins to talk to Marla again because Tyler is never around anymore. I wonder if he appears to Marla that he is the biggest dirt bag ever?!?!?!
The narrator gets kidnapped and they speak Tyler dogma and he really does not want to listen to it. Tyler at this point is perceived as a God-like figure or a Legend. Tyler has no real idea of this but the narrator begins to feel the effects of it. There are two new rules for FC #1 no one is ever the center of Fight Club and #2 Fight Club will always be free to get into. The mischief and the misinformation committees of Project Mayhem make this insane bumper stickers "I drive better when I'm drunk." It is funny but Project Mayhem is going to make the people of the world realize what is happening and they will perceive things differently in their lives. The narrator realizes that his perception of what Tyler was, was incorrect and now it is leading him to his downfall because he is one of Tyler's "monkeys".
The reason for Project Mayhem is because Tyler is tired of people perceiving people in different ways because of what they wear or how they look or do they have the Gucci bag etc. He thinks that the "young generation is chasing cars and clothes they do not need and are working jobs that they hate to buy the things that they do not need." He sees the reality behind the society today. Everyone is driven by materialistic things and he wants to create Project Mayhem to destroy everything and have everyone start over so that God will grant redemption to everyone. He is so weird. Tyler also makes the narrator kill twelve men, but they do not get killed he just takes their licenses. This is getting too crazy for me, but the self perception and others peoples perception of them is fantastic in this novel.

Chapters 13-16 Project Mayhem, Marla, quits job so much !
He has too many problems of his own like his bills and job and his insomnia, but for some reason he wants to help Marla. I do not think he should help her because she is a b***h to him. He also talks a lot about death and Marla wants to die throughout these few chapters and I think she has a really bad self image and she should take more care of herself. If she did this she would feel a lot better about herself and peoples perception of her appearance would be much higher. On a sad note the narrator's condo is blown up and I think Tyler did it so that the narrator would move in with him, but I think it is a real scummy thing to do to someone you know. Both him and Tyler quit their jobs and are able to open more fight clubs and now there is about 23 three of them. A quote on page 114 says, "Tyler's words coming . . . nice person." He knows that he used to be a nice person and Tyler has changed him for the worst and now he talks and thinks like Tyler and now the whole would sees him in a different light, but I do not think that he really cares. Project Mayhem is then created because the narrator and Tyler are getting bored of the Fight Club. Rule #1 don't ask questions
#2 don't ask questions
#3 no excuses
#4 No lies
#5 You have to trust Tyler
These are some seriously confusing chapters but wait until you see what happens next. :]

Chapters 9-12 nothing too, too, major but some interesting tid bits
Chapters nine and ten, nothing interesting to my topic happens and I can neither gather any useful information from these two chapters. Chapter eleven gets good because homosexual questions are still on the rise because on page 89 "Tyler said if I loved him, I'd trust him." I hope that he means love him as a friend because even though the gay community is growing stronger today, when this novel was written 12 years ago it was not so open and strong. Even today people still shun the thoughts of it and how they are perceived if they are gay my be a bad turning point for Tyler and the narrator in the book. They may actually hit rock bottom if they are homosexuals. In chapter twelve the narrators boss finds the original copy of the fight club rules that he typed up. I wonder if he cares what the boss thinks because I can tell the boss is extremely irritated with him right now, but I do not think the bosses perception of him really impacts him at all. I think he would rather be fired then to keep on working there. The narrator also finds out that his parasite support group has been disassembled and he discovers from his friend Bob that there are three new fight clubs that meet on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. I think he is pissed because anyone who has been in the Saturday original fight club was not supposed to talk about fight club; those are the fight two rules of the fight club.
Chapters 6, 7 and 8 there is soo much going on its nuts
Rule #1: don't talk about fight club
#2: don't talk about fight club
#3 when someone says stop or is limp even if they are pretending the fight is over
The narrator and Tyler Durden are the creators of Fight Club. They started this because neither had ever been in a fight before and they wanted to know what is was like to be able to hold their own in a fight with another man. All men are the same when they go to fight club. Some are accountants and some are janitors and so forth but when one comes to fight club no one is judged for their jobs or appearance, they all fight to get stress and anger off their chests and after the fight everything that is real is numb. Nothing matters after the fight and week after week one comes back and does it again if he wants to. In one fight the narrators gets his butt kicked by an a new guy and I wonder if people perceive him differently because he is a "veteran." They say that nobody wins or loses, but the question is still their and I wonder if they guys gave him crap about it. Then the narrator gets a kick to the head because Tyler and Marla start "doing the deed" which is a slap in his face because he was starting to like Marla. I guess Marla does not care what the narrator thinks about her, but used to care about what she thought because of the meetings they went to together. The narrator also thinks that Marla has ruined another part of his life: Tyler. I feel bad for him again at this point because it seems like everything is crapping on him and he just goes to the fight club and lets out his stress there. Then the question of homosexual comes up again because on page 72 "Tyler licks his lips wet . . . of my hand." He makes a kiss mark of saliva on the narrators hand and then puts lye on it and it begins to burn through his hand. I do not understand why Tyler would kiss his hand or want to burn the narrator it is very unpleasant to think about this image and why someone would let someone else mutilate them.

Chapters 1-5 confusing, but I'll explain
The big question in chapter one is: why does the narrator talk about Tyler Durden, but then he does not talk about him again until chapter seven or eight? Also I believe that he might be homosexual because there is a big love triangle between him, Tyler and Marla. He wants Tyler, Tyler wants Marla and Marla wants him. Homosexuals have a big problem in todays' society and are looked down upon, so I wonder if people throughout this book will perceive him in a negative light. I hope not because I will feel terrible for him because in personal experience I have many gay friends.
Chapter two was interesting because I discovered that the narrator goes to all these support groups and the other character Marla goes to all of them as well. The way she perceives him is accurate because she knows that he is a faker and a liar, but no other character sees that as of yet. He goes to all these other support groups to see how much worse other peoples lives are than his because he only has insomnia. I think he is a scumbag and that is how I perceive him at this moment.
Chapter three and the narrator finally talks about what Tyler does for his jobs and how he met Tyler. The homosexual question comes back because he meets Tyler at a nude beach and stares at him and what he was making on the beach. What guy on a nude beach would stare at another guy unless he was gay? Apparently Tyler is not gay because he only asks the narrator for the time at the beach, but his occupations are a projectionist and a waiter. There is no perception about Tyler at all until the next few chapters.
Chapters four and five are messed up because the narrator meets Marla at the support groups again and now all he can see is that she perceives him as a faker and liar once again. She is there because no one she knows has died yet so the meaning of life is nothing because she has not experienced anything like death to compare it to. Talk about messed up in the head, I can only imagine what she must think of others and what others must think about her. Also the narrators condo burns to pieces and I feel sympathetic towards him because when I was six my house burnt down so I know how it feels and I am on his side at this point, but that does not mean that my mind will not change later on in the book.
