I have begun a new book now by Chuck Palahniuk and it is Choke, one of his best sellers. The first two chapters that I have read are absolutely amazing. I am already enjoying this book a lot more than my first one. Nothing has come up about my essential question yet, but the book is pretty long and I am sure once I figure things out they will appear. Palahniuk warns readers in the first chapter to not read the book which I believe to be funny in a way and he also tells the reader that they will not like the main character. I see this as ironic because wouldn't an author want his book to sell, but instead is telling people in the first chapter not to read it and says that the protagonist is someone that they will not enjoy or like. :/ I am very confused by this but it actually made me even more interested in reading to the second chapter, which I have just finished tonight. The second chapter jumps into the book and with a great opening scene. It opens with people entering a Sexaholics meeting. From the beginning I already know that I will be able to pick up evidence and quotes that help answer and support my essential question. I am really in love with the way Palahniuk writes because it reminds of LUCKY,A MILLION LITTLE PIECES and VIRGIN SUICIDES. I do not know why but I love the addiction and grim stories. I love one's like A MILLION LITTLE PIECES and this one that are very descriptive and use very explicit words to describe everything that is happening. It makes for a much more interesting story. Any questions leave a comment.
